Areas of Expertise

Integrative Counselling

I am an Integrative Counsellor, which means I use a variety of counselling approaches to suit your unique needs. I have experience working with adults, children, and young people. At the core of my work is Person-Centred Therapy (PCT), which places you at the centre of the counselling process. This approach focuses on your thoughts and feelings, not the counsellor’s. I am not here to give you advice or tell you what to do but to help you explore and make sense of your concerns.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

I hold a Diploma in Creative Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). CBT helps us understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviour. By identifying the thoughts, attitudes, and beliefs that contribute to specific challenges, we can work together to develop healthier, more realistic perspectives that allow for a more positive and creative outlook on life.

Single Session Therapy (SST)

Single Session Therapy can address many of the same issues as other forms of counselling but focuses on immediate results. From the very first moment, we’ll work together to help you take away actionable insights and tools to address the issue you’ve chosen to discuss. SST is designed to make a meaningful difference in one session, but additional support is always available if needed.

About Me

I have lived in Somerset for over 30 years and have worked with people from all walks of life, in a variety of roles.  It has been a series of life events that have led me to my chosen path as a counsellor, an instinct that this was the right choice for me. This journey of extensive training and counselling in organisations led me to start a private counselling practice in January 2013 where I have gained valuable experience, working with a diverse range of clients. People I have worked with have described me as being warm, friendly and approachable, always making them feel at ease.

I work with adults of all ages and with children, teenagers and young people in my Private Practice and am a School Counsellor in a Secondary school working with students aged 11 - 16 years. I am also a mental health mentor, working with University students who have emotional and mental health difficulties.

I have been a mentor to a teenager who was having emotional difficulties and have experience counselling in schools with 11 - 16 year olds. I use creative, cognitive and symbolic techniques such as writing and drawing  to encourage children, teenagers and young people to express their emotions and feelings in a relaxed and informal way.

As a registered member of the BACP (www.bacp.co.uk) - British Association for Counselling and Pyschotherapy I adhere to the ethical framework and am working towards accreditiation.
